Summary
Immigration New Zealand rejected just over 65,000 visa applications in 2025, down significantly from more than 83,000 in 2024. The rejection rate also fell to 6.3%, compared with 7.3% in the previous two years.

Queen City Law Managing Director Marcus Beveridge said the immigration system is now operating more efficiently after past staffing and computer issues. He noted that India accounted for nearly one-third of all visa rejections, followed by China and Pakistan, with Fiji also showing relatively high rejection rates.
