Summary
Malaysia's multibillion-ringgit National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) is currently under development and is scheduled to begin phased operations starting in March 2026, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The system will heavily incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance border security and screening at entry points. Key features include an automated biometric identification system using facial, fingerprint, and iris recognition, a risk assessment engine, and big data analytics to detect security threats like fake passports and suspicious travel behavior.

NIISe will also use business intelligence tools to identify travel patterns and risks, including frequent travelers. An AI-powered chatbot will be developed to assist the public with technical support.

The Home Ministry emphasized that national security and border control will not be compromised. NIISe will replace the current Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs), which has been in use for over 20 years.
