Brazil: Visa Requirements Reinstated (Effective April 10, 2025)
Brazil has reintroduced visa requirements for citizens of Australia, Canada, and the United States. This change ends the visa exemption in place since 2019 and is based on the principle of diplomatic reciprocity. Travelers must now obtain an eVisa before entering Brazil, which simplifies the process by allowing online applications instead of visiting consulates.

United States: Major Reorganization of the State Department
The Trump administration announced a major restructuring plan for the U.S. State Department. It includes the closure of 132 domestic offices, a reduction of 700 positions in Washington, D.C., and a 22% cut in department offices. The changes aim to align the department with the administration’s goals. Several offices will be merged or eliminated, and a new role—Assistant Secretary for Emerging Threats—will be created.

Croatia: Enhanced Labor Protections for Foreign Workers
Croatia has passed labor law changes to better protect foreign workers:

Equal pay with Croatian citizens for similar work

Longer work permits (up to 3 years) and seasonal permits (up to 9 months)

Employers must provide financial guarantees if a work permit is canceled

New housing standards for foreign workers

Employers must meet certain criteria (e.g., hiring Croatian citizens, tax compliance)

The EU Blue Card system will also be improved with a 48-month validity, skill-based eligibility for IT roles, and higher salary thresholds.

Germany: Stricter Immigration Policies
Germany’s new coalition government plans to tighten immigration:

Expanded border controls to deny entry to asylum seekers arriving via other EU countries

A “repatriation offensive” to accelerate deportations of rejected asylum seekers

Increased detention capacity and broader authority for federal police to detain individuals pending deportation

These measures reflect Germany’s focus on stricter migration control and internal security.
