Saskatchewan will introduce changes to its Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) on January 2, 2027, requiring employers and immigration advisers to adapt to new nomination and application procedures. The province will merge its Family Referral and Skilled Worker streams into a single International Skilled Workers category while creating a separate stream for foreign nationals already living and working in Saskatchewan.

Although the stand-alone Family Referral stream will be removed, applicants with family ties in Saskatchewan will receive additional points under the selection system. However, the existing rule limiting sponsors to nominating only one family member at a time will remain in effect.

The SINP will also move to a fully electronic application system, ending paper submissions. The Saskatchewan government says the reforms are intended to address labour shortages and improve the province’s ability to attract and retain skilled workers. The changes come as Canada continues to balance economic demand for immigration with growing public concerns about current immigration levels.
