Global Immigration Recap: October 2025

WR Immigration
Summary
WR Immigration’s October update highlights notable immigration changes in several countries.
In the United Kingdom, employer-related government fees will increase on December 16, 2025, including a significant rise in the Immigration Skills Charge and fees for priority services. The Home Office has also issued a warning about phishing attempts targeting Sponsorship Management System users and recommends reviewing account activity and updating passwords.
In the United Arab Emirates, new visit visa types have been introduced, including an AI Specialist Visa for short-term collaboration and project work, along with new visas for events and entertainment activities. The government has also revised conditions for business exploration visas and updated the minimum income threshold for sponsoring dependents.
Brazil has expanded the scope of its visitor visa to permit technical assistance and technology transfer activities for stays of up to 90 days, with possible extensions. This change is expected to simplify short-term assignments that previously required work authorization.
Spain now allows Ukrainian nationals residing under Temporary Protection Status to apply for work permits without leaving the country, reducing administrative burdens, although documentation requirements for dependents may still pose challenges.
Bermuda has implemented a new work permit policy that adjusts processing rules, hiring conditions, documentation requirements, and reduces the permitted stay for business visitors. The changes introduce stricter compliance expectations for employers and work permit holders.
