Summary: In Brazil, as of October 8, 2025, the business visa (VIVIS) now covers short-term technical assistance and technology transfer assignments of less than 90 days per year, in addition to meetings, events, and auditing. Nationals from visa-exempt countries can undertake these activities without a visa, but must track entry and exit stamps to avoid overstaying.

In India, rules for Aadhaar issuance and validity for foreign nationals have been updated. Foreigners who have resided in India for at least 182 days in the previous 12 months and hold a valid visa, OCI card, or are citizens of Nepal or Bhutan can apply. The Aadhaar card is valid until visa or passport expiration for most foreigners, and for 10 years for OCI holders or Nepalese/Bhutanese citizens.

Switzerland is implementing the Entry/Exit System (EES) to electronically register third-country nationals entering and leaving the Schengen area. Basel and Geneva airports launched the system on October 12, 2025, with other airports phased in through March 2026. The EES collects biometric data, replaces manual passport stamps, and helps monitor overstays and visa compliance.

In the United Kingdom, the Migration Advisory Committee published a Stage 1 report on the Temporary Shortage List, identifying 82 medium-skilled occupations essential to infrastructure and industrial strategy. Only roles with credible workforce development plans will progress to Stage 2, with temporary immigration benefits such as lower salary thresholds and faster visa processing.

Additionally, the UK updated its immigration rules effective October 14, 2025: Botswana and Palestine nationals now require visas, German school groups under 19 can travel using national IDs, dependents of stateless persons can apply under relevant appendices, English language requirements for skilled routes rise from B1 to B2 (effective January 2026), the High Potential Individual route expands with an 8,000-application cap, the Graduate route for bachelor’s and master’s degrees shortens to 18 months (PhD remains 3 years), students can switch to the Innovator Founder route after course completion, seasonal workers may stay up to six months in any 10-month period, and the Immigration Skills Surcharge for employers sponsoring skilled workers will increase by 32%.

Overall, these changes reflect updates across countries to facilitate short-term business activities, manage foreign worker compliance, and address labor shortages while adjusting visa and immigration requirements.
