(euronews)Trump says immigration is 'killing Europe' during Scotland visit

Summary: During his visit to Scotland, former U.S. President Donald Trump made controversial remarks, stating that immigration is "killing Europe" and warning that without action, "you're not going to have Europe anymore." His comments echoed the far-right "Great Replacement" theory, which claims European populations are being replaced by immigrants from Africa and elsewhere.

Trump is set to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Tensions are high ahead of the August 1 deadline Trump set for imposing 30% tariffs on EU imports if no trade deal is reached. The EU has prepared countermeasures in response. Trump said a deal with the EU would be "the biggest deal of them all."

He also criticized wind energy, saying wind turbines ruin landscapes, kill birds, and damage countries — a view not supported by scientific evidence. Trump, a known climate change skeptic, has previously opposed wind farms, including one near his golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where his company lost a legal case against the project.

While in Scotland, Trump is visiting two family-owned golf courses in Aberdeenshire and near Turnberry, with one set to open officially on August 13.
