Summary
Between July 3 and 16, 2025, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) invited foreign workers from various sectors to apply for provincial nomination to address key labor shortages in Alberta’s economy. The invitations were mainly issued through the Alberta Express Entry Stream, which focuses on priority sectors such as construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare, as well as through specialized pathways like the Law Enforcement and Dedicated Health Care Pathways. The Alberta Opportunity Stream also played a significant role, targeting temporary foreign workers currently employed full-time in Alberta.

Out of the total 4,875 nomination allocations for 2025, the AAIP had issued 2,895 nominations by mid-July, with 1,980 nominations remaining. The Alberta Opportunity Stream had used 1,608 of its 2,592 nominations, while other streams like Law Enforcement and Dedicated Health Care had also issued a considerable number of nominations. There are currently over 2,300 applications still under review, and the program plans to continue issuing nominations aligned with labor market needs throughout the year.
