Summary
On June 6, 2025, Ontario resumed its Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) after a four-month pause, holding a targeted draw for candidates with job offers in the Greater Sudbury area. A total of 72 candidates were invited under the Employer Job Offer streams: 32 under the Foreign Worker Stream (minimum score 36), 34 under the International Student Stream (score 54), and 6 under the In-Demand Skills Stream (score 32). Eligible candidates had to have an active profile created by June 3, 2025, reside in Canada, hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, and have a job offer from a Greater Sudbury employer. Invited candidates must apply by June 20.

This draw followed a larger June 3 draw that invited 3,719 candidates. Aside from a small targeted draw in January, these are the only draws conducted so far in 2025. The province’s nomination quota has also been reduced to 10,750 slots for the year.

Additionally, starting July 2, OINP will launch a new Employer of Interest (EOI) system, shifting from an applicant-led to an employer-led process for the Employer Job Offer streams. Employers must first register job offers in a new portal before applicants can submit their EOIs. The system also transitions from paper-based to digital and affects the Foreign Worker, International Student, and In-Demand Skills streams. Existing EOIs must be re-submitted through the new system in collaboration with employers.
