Summary
Australia (Parent Visa Applications):
While parent visa applications must still be submitted in paper form, applicants can now import their applications into ImmiAccount after acknowledgment. This allows access to online services such as uploading documents, viewing immigration office messages, updating personal details, and checking application status—streamlining the overall process.
France (Digital Apostille and Legalization Reform):
From May 1, 2025, French notaries will take over the authority to issue apostilles, and by September 1, 2025, they will also handle document legalizations, replacing the Court of Appeal and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Apostilles and legalizations will be issued electronically (e-Apostille, e-Legalization) using qualified electronic signatures. Applications can be submitted through the digital REAL portal or at regional notary offices. Fees are €20 for standard processing (3 days) and €40 for urgent processing (24 hours).
Ireland (New Employment Permits System):
Ireland has launched a new cloud-based system for employment permits, offering a more secure and efficient application process. Separate portal accounts are required for employers, employees, and agents, all of whom can track application status and manage information online. Multi-factor authentication is required for registration, and employers must submit additional documentation. Applications are completed jointly online using e-signatures. The Trusted Partner initiative has been phased out as all employers now use the unified portal system.
