Summary
Since June 2025, several major updates have emerged regarding U.S. immigration policy:

Visa processing for Harvard-affiliated international students and exchange visitors has resumed following a court order that overturned a Trump-era ban based on national security concerns. This change does not apply to students from other institutions.

The DHS has begun terminating the CHNV parole programs for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, following a Supreme Court ruling. Work authorizations under this program are being revoked, with notifications sent via myUSCIS.

USCIS updated its policy on medical exams (Form I-693) for green card applicants: as of June 11, 2025, any exam signed on or after November 1, 2023, is valid only while the associated application is pending. Only the 01/20/2025 edition will be accepted starting July 3, 2025.

DHS now offers fine forgiveness for undocumented individuals who voluntarily depart the U.S. using the CBP One app. This could waive daily civil penalties that previously accrued after final removal orders.

The July 2025 Visa Bulletin shows forward movement in family-based and some employment-based visa categories. EB-1 remains current for most, EB-2 and EB-3 show slight advances, but EB-4 remains unavailable.

ICE temporarily paused worksite raids in key industries like agriculture and hospitality after comments from President Trump but quickly reversed course, reaffirming enforcement against employers hiring undocumented workers.

Finally, the State Department has expanded social media screening for student visa applicants to include checks for anti-U.S. sentiment, political activism, or terrorist affiliations. While flagged content won’t guarantee denial, it will lead to deeper review.
