Sweden halts deportations of teen migrants whose families remain

Summary
Sweden has temporarily suspended the deportation of teenage migrants while the government prepares reforms to its family immigration rules. The decision follows criticism of cases where minors were ordered to leave the country after turning 18, even though their parents were allowed to remain in Sweden.
The government says the reform aims to give young migrants who have grown up in Sweden and contributed through education or work a better chance to stay. The Swedish Migration Agency has paused these deportations while the legislative changes are being drafted.
Despite this adjustment, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson emphasized that Sweden will maintain a generally strict immigration policy. The government is also considering whether previously granted permanent residence permits could be reviewed or converted into temporary ones.
