French IT giant Capgemini to sell subsidiary working with US immigration agency ICE

Capgemini has announced that it will sell its subsidiary, Capgemini Government Solutions, which provides services to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The divestment process will begin immediately, and the unit accounts for only about 0.4% of the group’s projected 2025 revenue and less than 2% of its US turnover.

The decision follows reports by an NGO and French media that Capgemini supplied ICE with a tool used to identify and locate foreign nationals. The revelations sparked controversy amid growing tensions in the United States over the Trump administration’s strict immigration enforcement and deportation policies, which have led to nationwide protests.

The issue has also drawn strong reactions in France, with trade unions and political figures questioning Capgemini’s responsibility. France’s economy minister called on the company to ensure transparency regarding its contracts with ICE and to reassess them if necessary.
