US deportations under Biden surpass Trump's record

Summary
In the 2024 fiscal year, the U.S. deported over 271,000 undocumented immigrants, the highest number in nearly a decade, surpassing the record set during Donald Trump's first term. The increase in deportations was partly due to streamlined processes and expanded diplomatic efforts to secure cooperation from countries in Africa and Asia. Approximately 82% of deported immigrants were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border. President-elect Trump has promised to initiate the largest mass deportation operation in U.S. history when he takes office. Meanwhile, illegal border crossings have significantly decreased in recent months, partly due to a decrease in asylum and increased cooperation with Mexico.
