The "Status of Residence: Technical Intern Training (ii) - Category B (ロ)" refers to the second stage of Japan's Technical Intern Training Program, conducted under the organization-based (supervised) model. This status is granted to foreign nationals who have successfully completed "Technical Intern Training (i) - Category B" and wish to continue acquiring more advanced and practical skills. The training period under this status can be extended for up to two additional years, allowing for deeper, more specialized skill development.

The difference between Technical Intern Training (i) and (ii) lies in the depth of training and duration of stay. Training (i) focuses on the acquisition of basic skills and generally permits a one-year stay. In contrast, Training (ii) involves more practical and applied training, and the total internship period (including both stages) can be extended up to a maximum of three years. To transition from (i) to (ii), the intern must successfully complete the first stage and pass the required skill evaluation tests.

The distinction between "Category A (イ)" and "Category B (ロ)" concerns the method of acceptance. Category A refers to the company-based model, where the host company directly employs and trains the intern. Category B refers to the organization-based model, where a supervising organization (such as an industry group or chamber of commerce) manages and supports the training process, placing interns with one or more host companies. Therefore, "Technical Intern Training (ii) - Category B" indicates that the foreign intern continues advanced skill training under the supervision of an approved organization, typically working across one or more companies within Japan.
